GERMANTOWN, Md. – Sept. 16, 2020 – Amentum, a leading contractor to U.S. federal and allied governments, announced today that the U.S. Department of Energy provided the Amentum-led joint venture with Fluor and Atkins, Central Plateau Cleanup Company LLC, the Notice to Proceed to start transition on Oct. 5 on the Central Plateau Cleanup Contract at the Hanford Site near Richland, Wash. The Central Plateau Cleanup Contract is a master indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract valued at $10 billion for a period of up to 10 years, including a transition period of at least 60 days.

“We are excited to support the Department of Energy on the Central Plateau Cleanup Contract,” said Mark Whitney, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Amentum’ s Nuclear & Environment strategic business unit. “We have assembled a tremendous team led by Scott Sax, and the entire leadership team is anxious to begin working with the talented Hanford workforce, regulators and other Hanford stakeholders. We look forward to sharing our transition plans to continue work on this important DOE cleanup mission.”

The Central Plateau Cleanup Company brings the depth and breadth of three leading nuclear industry companies – Amentum, Fluor and Atkins – making it one of the largest and most experienced nuclear End State delivery teams assembled in the U.S. Department of Energy complex. With more than 100 years of combined nuclear experience, including 63 years at Hanford, these companies have collectively decommissioned 1,179 facilities and dispositioned more waste for the U.S. cleanup program than any other company.

”Our goal is to be the safest, best-performing, most-respected cleanup contractor in the Department of Energy complex,” said Scott Sax, President and Project Manager of the Central Plateau Cleanup Company. “Our team is ready to join hands with other site contractors in a One Hanford approach, and we are committed to getting the job done.”
