Personal Photo edited

At Amentum, we celebrate our people, our cultures, and we recognize the value of diversity and inclusion. For February, we’ll reflect on what Black History Month means to all of us while shining a light on one employee at a time. Amentum’s next spotlight is on Brianna Wheatley, Sourcing Specialist, Corporate Sourcing and Procurement, Global Supply Chain Management (GSCM).

How did you come to join Amentum?

I started as a Subcontracts Intern with PAE in January 2019.

What is your professional and personal background?

I graduated from the University of Maryland, R.H. Smith School of Business in 2019. I graduated with a B.S. in International Business and a B.S. in Supply Chain Management, and I minored in Chinese Language.

Describe the work you do and how you think it makes a positive impact.

I support Amentum’s Corporate leaders through the procurement of goods and services and management of agreements. Our Corporate Sourcing and Procurement team is focused on partnering with our Corporate Stakeholders to ensure both Corporate and Amentum-wide initiatives are completed. We are always striving for the best value solution, in both cost and quality.

What are some of your accomplishments and/or what has been your proudest career moment?

I think my proudest career moment was being selected as the sourcing lead for the Amentum Intranet solicitation. The Request for Proposal and solicitation process was much more involved than others that I had previously participated in. I’m proud that my support of the project led to our own OneJavelin intranet.

What do you enjoy about working for Amentum?

Working for Amentum, I enjoy that I can have a direct impact on problem-solving and process improvement.

What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about training and enabling all employees to be well-educated and capable in their fields.

What’s your career advice?

Your future is not set based on your past experiences. Despite your previous education or career path, you can pursue anything that you want, and with hard work, you can achieve your goals.

What does safety mean to you or do you have a favorite safety tip?

I think we need to have an equal focus on both physical on-the-job safety and psychological safety. Both are critical to achieving workplace happiness and fulfillment.

What’s the best invention in the world and why?

HVAC! You can withstand nearly any climate as long as you stay comfortable and can regulate your temperature.

Anything else you would like to share from a personal or professional perspective?

No one person that you’re working with is better than the other. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and kindness.

Considering this monthly observance, tell us more about yourself. Please address one or more of the following questions:
