Jill Bruning, the incoming Chief Technology Officer after the completion of the Amentum-Jacobs’ Critical Mission Solutions business merger, will oversee the new Amentum’s technological landscape to effectively leverage technology in driving growth and achieving strategic goals. She will be responsible for prioritizing strategic technology and innovation investments and will manage corporate technology partnerships. Jill will also lead the company-wide technology collaboration framework that will illuminate technology initiatives with knowledge sharing and innovation recognition.
Before the CTO role, Jill was the President of Amentum’s Engineering, Science & Technology business. She led a high-growth organization delivering engineering and technical services across the full engineering life cycle supporting scientific research and development, technology integration, digital engineering, C5I, autonomous systems, training, data analytics, cyber security, and business process outsourcing.
Jill has been with Amentum (and legacy companies) for thirteen years and played a critical role on the executive leadership team during the AECOM Management Services acquisition process, and stand-up of the new company, Amentum in 2020. While at AECOM (and URS), Jill was an Executive Vice President and General Manager of business groups providing Intelligence, Systems Engineering, Security, Services and Solutions.
Prior to joining URS, she served as the Chief Operating Officer for NJVC, an information technology services provider for the Intelligence Community leading a multi‐billion-dollar transformative enterprise information technology consolation and convergence program.
Previously, Jill worked at CSC, starting as a technical researcher in cryogenics at Nichols Research (bought by CSC) and ending as a Vice President leading large classified operations. Jill began her career as a systems engineer at Chicago Bridge and Iron.
Jill has received numerous leadership awards (Women in Technology Leadership award, American Business Association Gold Stevie Award Female Executive of the Year, AECOM CEO Excellence Award) and has served on several industry boards (Intelligence and National Security Alliance, AFCEA). Jill is the executive sponsor for Amentum’s Women Employee Resource Network which was recognized with the Athlon award for excellence in 2023.
Jill holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois, holds two patents related to energy systems, and has published over 27 papers in cryogenic technology. She leads a non-profit, The Bruning Foundation, providing community development and education assistance to the economically disadvantaged in rural Missouri.
