Amenternship: Pizza Party and Interns Experience
Amentum’s internship program has welcomed more than 100 interns for the summer despite COVID-19. Recently, Jill Bruning, EVP and IS4 General Manager, and Karl Spinnenweber, EVP and Mission Readiness General Manager, hosted a virtual pizza party for their interns to virtually meet each other and connect. They spoke to the interns about the framework that makes up the company and had an open discussion where interns shared their aspirations and asked for career advice. Here’s what some of the interns had to say:
Interns Spotlight
Sean Snyder
It was a great time having the chance to meet Mrs. Bruning and Dr. Spinnenweber given the limited ability to travel. I am very grateful that Amentum was flexible with making the internship offer work out even during these challenging times. We had an awesome conversation and were able to gain insights into what it takes to be successful in the industry. It was fun engaging with the other interns that are spread out across all programs. I want to thank the Amentum team for hosting this meeting to learn more about the company its employees.
Divya Varde
Every facet of Amentum is constantly engaged with various kinds of innovative and creative collaborations. As an intern, it is refreshing to see a company constantly invested into ensuring that the internship is a meaningful and educational experience for its interns. Thus, I was excited when Amentum planned an intern luncheon to facilitate engaging conversations and network with other interns. Working alongside PMS397, specifically with David Leach and Dr. Kaitlynn Castelle, I have been able to gain insight into the CLB class program and its associated Integrated Logistics Environment (ILE) and the DevSecOps missions for Platform One. I look forward to not only use my network and capabilities to elaborate on future projects, but to also become a part of the Amentum family and drive future changes.
Cory Daniel
My intern experience so far has been fantastic, I’ve learned many new skills that I can apply to my work and I have met so many great colleagues. From working on CPAR databases in the spring to a communication plan for small sites and now analyzing acquisition award dates in the summer, my whole experience has been surreal. I can’t speak enough on the caliber of people in Amentum because it is so high, but I just want to thank everyone that I’ve crossed paths with and that has made a lasting impact on me. The pizza party was very informative and tasted great! I’ve learned so much this summer and I am looking forward to Amentum’s future.
Kodua Kwarteng
My name is Kodua Kwarteng and I am a rising junior at Virginia Tech studying computer science. I am currently an intern for the Rolling Airframes Missile (RAM) Program in Arlington, Va. and I have had a great experience at Amentum. Although dealing with many changes given current state of the world, Amentum has made sure not to neglect its internship program. Recently, Amentum hosted a virtual pizza party where interns had the opportunity to network and converse over their favorite kinds of pizzas. This is just one example of how Amentum has fostered a welcoming and collaborative virtual work environment and is one of the things that I appreciate most about the company. With a caring internship management team working behind the scenes, I am 100 percent confident that this company will continue to improve the internship program and nurture the leaders of tomorrow!
