Amentum Sponsors National Safety Council Diversity in Safety Scholars

Amentum has sponsored four Diversity in Safety Scholars through the National Safety Council (NSC) for the 2023-2024 academic year. The NSC Diversity in Safety Scholarship Program works to increase diversity in the field of occupational health and safety, while also building a workforce trained and ready to fill the growing need for these individuals.

“We were excited to meet with these great students at the recent NSC Safety Congress & Expo in New Orleans,” said Jeff Treffinger, VP of Environmental Health & Safety. “It was a pleasure presenting them with their scholarship award and looking forward to their bright futures!”

Amentum’s sponsorship includes four scholars:

  • Amaya Fisher, a junior at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, majoring in Environmental Health and Safety. Fisher is dedicated to one day creating a safer environment in the workplace for everyone.
  • Lillian Johnson, a sophomore at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, pursuing her studies in Environmental Health and Safety. Upon graduation, Johnson would like to focus on decreasing workplace injuries and ensuring workplace safety for all.
  • Marcus Rayner, a sophomore at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, currently majoring in Construction Management. Rayner plans to create a culture of safety in the construction environment.
  • Brian Williams, a sophomore at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, majoring in Environmental Science. Williams is passionate about preserving the environment.
