  • Designing and applying technical upgrades to manned and unmanned ground and air platforms for the U.S. Department of Defense

Amentum MBSE Collaboration Center

Amentum’s Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Collaboration Center is a state-of-the-art lab and training center that brings together the top private-sector and government engineers, the latest tools, and advanced digital domain models to enhance collaboration and visual solutions to defeat emerging threats. The center creates new engineering capabilities to benefit the greater Department of Defense (DoD) customer base in the application and practice of MBSE and related digital tools.
Benefits of MBSE
  • Enhanced Decision-Making
  • Streamlined Development Processes
  • Optimized Resource Allocation
  • Interoperability and Integration
  • Agility and Adaptability
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement

Engineering Capabilities

Amentum provides engineering services that span the entire program lifecycle – from initial needs analysis, asset planning, concept through detailed design development, operations, product maturation and integration, facility compliance; to site remediation, restoration, sustainability, and reuse. Our portfolio includes design-bid-build, design-build and construction projects, management and operations (M&O), operation and maintenance (O&M) services, and access control services at locations for United States Government and other governments around the globe.
At Amentum, our Systems Engineering (SE) teams establishing the technical framework and technical management for a system(s) and product.  Our engineers support the full life cycle from specifications, design, development, integration and testing, operations, and retirements.
Our Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) engineers migrate systems engineering and design projects from a document-centric approach to model-centric approach, using formalized digital models and data. Our engineers use these digital models and data to provide a common operating picture or authoritative source-of-truth, enabling decision-makers, designers, testers, production teams, and users to communicate and collaborate more effectively.

Amentum engineers leverage Building Information Modeling (BIM) design for visualizing the integrated designs, supporting design & constructability reviews, and managing design changes. The integrated BIM model is a multidiscipline platform that can allow simultaneous design to occur in multiple locations.

Our Digital engineering approach integrates digital models created from an ecosystem of various enterprise applications to share digital information and data. Using Application Programming Interface (APIs), our engineers facilitate the integration of models and data from different software applications into a cohesive model that represents a system, a system-of-system, or an enterprise operation.

Amentum’s Process Engineering Group supports projects from initial project development and conceptual design through detailed engineering, construction, and startup/commissioning. The Group has specific design and engineering experience in chemical and utility process systems associated with industrial facilities for all major industries both domestic and international. These systems require detailed analysis and studies of process systems, creation of process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and process descriptions.
Our System Integration and Testing is the assembly of components into subsystems, and subsystems into a system and verifying that the integrated parts meet specified requirements at the appropriate level.  Integration and testing can be performed at the component level, subsystem level, or system level.  Integrated parts can be hardware, software, firmware, or a combination of these.
Safety is embedded into everything we do at Amentum. Our System Safety Engineers specialize in the identification, documentation, and mitigation of system hazards that may cause harm or damage to personnel and/or equipment.  They are responsible for performing detailed analysis of the system architecture to unmask potential failures, identify the mode of failure, probability of the failure occurring, and the impact if it was to occur.
Amentum offers a comprehensive suite of A/E services for Title I, II, and III design – from the development of the design criteria and alternate concepts during the preliminary stage of project design through final design and construction support.
Amentums Software Center of Excellence provides mission critical, real-time Agile software design, development, & integration support for the full life-cycle using test-driven development, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery, automation & virtualization, and maintains Agile coaches to train and consult on Agile processes such as SAFe, LeSS, Scrum, Kanban and other philosophies. The center focuses on rapid evolution with technology, such as Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, through investments in training, certifications, and in its unclassified & classified labs.
