Projects
COMET Contract at NASA Kennedy Space Center in Florida
Under the Consolidated Operations, Management, Engineering & Test (COMET) contract, Amentum provides engineering; ground system development; flight vehicle/spacecraft processing; and launch, landing and recovery operations for NASA’s major Exploration Systems Development programs: Exploration Ground Systems, Space Launch System and Orion programs.
NASA Artemis I Moon Mission Launch from Kennedy Space Center
As the Artemis prime contractor at Kennedy Space Center (KSC) for Exploration Ground Systems, Amentum handled the final checkout and integration of all flight hardware for Artemis I. The Amentum team received Orion from Lockheed Martin following the crew capsule and service module assembly in the Neil Armstrong Operations and Checkout Building at KSC. Orion was in the Multi-Purpose Processing Facility (MPPF), where complex ground servicing operations were performed on the service module and crew module systems used during on-orbit mission operations. These systems include reaction control and orbital maneuvering propulsion systems, avionics cooling systems, and crew module interior environmental systems.
In addition, the Amentum team performed avionics testing, mission payload fit checks, developmental flight instrumentation sensor installations, thermal protection installations, and the application of NASA and ESA logos. From the MPPF, Orion was moved to the Launch Abort Servicing Facility, where Amentum stacked the Launch Abort System on top of the crew module. Then, it was transported to the VAB for stacking on the SLS core stage.
JETS II Contract at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX
Under the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract, Amentum provides engineering design, development, sustaining engineering, analysis, assessment, technology development, test services and laboratory/facility operation and maintenance for the JSC Engineering Directorate. Amentum also delivers planetary missions research, physical science research, astromaterial curation and laboratory/facility operation and maintenance for the JSC Exploration Integration and Science Directorate, as well as engineering and related services for other organizations at JSC and other Centers and government agencies.
ATOM-5 Contract at NASA Ames Research Center at Moffett Field, CA
ESSCA Contract at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL
The Engineering Services and Science Capability Augmentation (ESSCA) contract enables Amentum to continue providing critical science and engineering and technical support for flagship NASA programs including the Space Launch System, International Space Station and numerous space science and technology development projects.
CMOE Contract at NASA Langley Research Center in Langley, VA
Amentum provides research facility operations, central utilities operations, technology development/ administration, research and institutional maintenance, and facility engineering.
IRES Contract for the U.S. Missile Defense Agency in Colorado Springs, CO
Working through the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract, Amentum provided integrated solutions to support the test in all phases. From ICBM launch, to ground, sea and space-based sensors providing real-time target acquisition and tracking data, to operation of the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) system, and finally target discrimination, GBI launch and intercept.
Amentum provides 24/7 support to the Missile Defense Integration and Operations Center – a key component of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). The Amentum team supports flight systems and ground systems testing; hardware-in-the-loop tests, execution and control; and classified and unclassified military simulations for the development of the BMDS. Amentum also provides IT, cybersecurity and telecommunication solutions for the MDA’s enterprise communications and information technology environment to help secure and protect our nation’s most coveted assets.
